An Elegant Tulip by The Mall and Literary Walk, Central Park, New York City

An Elegant Tulip by The Mall and Literary Walk, Central Park, New York City

Truly. The white ones are the most elegant, the most sophisticated tulips I have seen yet.

They seem to take care in the breeze, to not get dirty or too ruffled. I saw them on a Saturday stroll around the park, same as me. They chit-chatted with their friends as I did with mine, some new from out of town, some from here in New York. We were both playing tour guide, pointing out the famous or the not so famous aspects of the park, our favorite sculptures, or views through the trees to something else known by many…

These white tulips, the White Triumphator, allowed us to pass by in front of them, as graciously as you would expect, so we could continue our tour…

The Tulip Stem and Underside, Central Park, New York City

The Tulip Stem and Underside, Central Park, New York City

Every week at the Conservatory Garden something new appears, and now there are boundless tulips and daffodils.

I especially loved the creamy colors from the underside of this tulip, from the greens turning into red. It pays to get on you knees and explore around…

Bow Bridge from the West Side of The Lake, Central Park, New York City

Bow Bridge from the West Side of The Lake, Central Park, New York City

After a morning of searching for macro flowers, I bicycled down the Central Park loop on my way home. I often pass this view of the Bow Bridge, but the sky never seems right when I go past, mostly because it is late in the day and the sun would be behind in the wrong part of the sky…

But here, it’s morning. And with some good clouds… So I pulled over and walked to The Lake’s edge, and took a few shots as a father and daughter watched me setup and do my thing. I wasn’t there for more than two minutes and they watched my whole setup and figuring. At the end, as I put my tripod back onto my bag and slug it over my shoulders, I looked and smiled over to them, and the daughter smiled back. They might be from NY or they aren’t, I couldn’t tell. But I could tell they also loved the view there looking across the water.

Bridge No. 28 by The Reservoir, Central Park, New York City

Bridge No. 28 by The Reservoir, Central Park, New York City

I beat the sun this morning, but only by a few minutes. The lighting in the park was still on, and I hurriedly set up myself, but stopped for a deep breath. In that moment I noticed I was right under this fantastic tree. So I moved back a little, and there you have it. What a tree to help frame Bridge No. 28. Thank you Central Park…

Flowering Cherry Tree Along the Hudson River, New York City

Flowering Cherry Tree Along the Hudson River, New York City

The branches almost refused to stop for me, I just wanted one nice photo. The tree was waving its arms wildly in the breeze, the warm air, the Sunday sun…

It is just a spring cheer, the waving. So happy to be alive again, so happy to show everyone that passes who they are and what they are capable of. Some blossoms get so excited that they pop off and float to the ground… and stare back at the tree and say, “Wow! How beautiful!”
